Junior Lifeguards Making a Splash!

On Monday 16th December, 23 swim school students across the three Swan Active sites participated in a day of fun and friendly competition in the pool. Hosted by Swan Active Ballajura, students participated in various pool lifesaving events. These events included an obstacle race, mannequin tow, a partner tow, and a rope throw relay. These skills are taught in our regular Junior Lifeguard classes, so it was a great opportunity for students to showcase their learning!

The end results were very close, with Swan Active Ballajura coming out first, Midland second and Beechboro third. It was a great out turnout, with all students trying their best, and enjoying a sausage sizzle lunch at the end of the day.

The Junior Lifeguard Club program is aimed for students in Levels 10-16 and provides them with an introduction to pool lifesaving. Not only does it continue to build their swimming skills, but also their knowledge on water safety. Students have the opportunity to build on and demonstrate their teamwork and leadership skills. At the completion of Level 15, students are given the opportunity to work towards their Bronze Medallion. These classes run for 1 hour once a week.
